Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a Homicide that occurred at 2813 Liberty Oaks Dr. On February 3, 2010 at 10:55 PM, Deputies were dispatched to 2813 Liberty Oaks Drive, Apt B reference a stabbing.

When Deputies arrived, they found the victim, Alan Dale Atkinson, W/M, 48 yoa, in the front yard with apparent stab wounds to the chest. Mr. Atkinson’s roommate, Michael Wade Nidiffer, W/M, 43 yoa, was in the front yard rendering aid to the victim. Deputies later learned that Mr. Nidiffer and Mr. Atkinson had been in an ongoing argument that led to the stabbing. Mr. Nidiffer was taken into custody without incident. Michael Wade Nidiffer is currently confined in the Guilford County Jail under a $500,000 bond charged with Manslaughter.
