Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a Homicide that occurred at 2813 Liberty Oaks Dr. On February 3, 2010 at 10:55 PM, Deputies were dispatched to 2813 Liberty Oaks Drive, Apt B reference a stabbing.

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at approximately 11:12 am, Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a call at the bridge located on Dillon Rd. A witness walking on the bridge noticed a subject floating in the creek below the bridge and then notified 911. The subject was identified as Jerry Wayne Wyrick, B/M, DOB 11/06/1957of 804 Bales Chapel Rd in Jamestown. The victim’s family has been notified.

There is no apparent indication of foul play; however, the Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation at this time. The Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.

On 8‐29‐09, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a shooting with a suspicious suspect at Wiley Lewis Rd. and Pleasant Garden Rd. The patrol officer stopped a suspicious person as he was walking down the road at approx. 4:15 am in the morning. Upon questioning the suspect and checking his identification, it was found the suspect was wanted and was in fact an escapee from a halfway house where he was serving the remainder of his time for bank robbery.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reports that Michael Keith Cooper, DOB: 07/22/1957, was found deceased in the parking lot at 4710 High Point Road, Greensboro, NC.

Sheriff BJ Barnes with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reports that between February 2, 2008 and February 27, 2008 there were three commercial burglaries at Spectrum Wireless located at 4800 High Point Rd Greensboro, NC during which cellular telephones, pre-paid phone cards and computer equipment were stolen.
