Student arrested for weapon possession

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports the arrest of an Eastern Guilford High School student for the possession of a firearm on school property. The School Resource Office arrested Isaiah Neal Crawford, B/M, DOB 09/03/1992 of 1912 McKnight Mill Rd, Greensboro, NC and recovered a Lorcin .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun from the student’s locker. The handgun’s magazine was loaded and a round was loaded in the chamber.

 
McLeansville man found deceased

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports that on December 16, 2009, at 8:30 pm, deputies responded to 4922 Streamside Dr, McLeansville, NC in reference to a 911 unknown complaint.

Skeletal Remains Identified

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Tuesday, November 17, human skeletal remains were located by a survey crew in a wooded area at 4108 Hicone Rd, Greensboro, NC. After the initial report was confirmed, the Sheriff’s Office sealed off the scene and began an investigation. Due to the condition of the remains, the Sheriff’s Office requested the help of the Anthropology Department of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A team arrived on the scene headed by Dr. De La Cova.

Bail Bondsman involved in shooting

Sheriff BJ Barnes reports the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting involving the Greg Holeman Bail Bonds Company. Bondsmen from this company were attempting to take Sonny Ray Cranford of 3206 Rockcliffe Dr. in Whitsett N.C. into custody, as they are allowed to do by law, to resolve a $100,000.00 bond forfeiture for Failure to Appear for Statutory Rape and Sex Offense.

Vehicle Chase Involving Fleeing Felons

Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes reports a chase of two fleeing felons wanted on felony charges from several agencies. Sheriff Barnes states that at approximately 3:25 pm on Wednesday, August 26, officers were requested to assist High Point Police Department with the stop of a white Honda vehicle.

Hostage Situation

Shortly before 5:00 pm, Sunday, June 14, 2009, Guilford County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 6047 Burlington Road, Gibsonville, to a domestic call involving a gun. The victim had notified her boyfriend and father that she was being held hostage by Tommy Joe Maness, who was armed with a .22 caliber rifle with a scope.
